Leopards are often driven up a tree by hyenas or lions in their never-ending rivalry and competition for prey. In such circumstances, a leopard would hastily grab its kill, claw up a tree, sometimes with prey weighing more than it's own weight. With supreme agility it gets out of the way of other predators and scavengers. This painting shows a leopard that succeeded in getting out of the way, avoiding conflict, finding itself backed up in a tree, with rather small prey, but out of reach of any competition down below.
